🔥 BEXAR COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

The Bexar County Commissioners Court has issued an Order Restricting Outdoor Burning due to conditions that create an increased public safety hazard from outdoor burning.

🚫 Unrestricted outdoor burning is prohibited in the unincorporated areas of Bexar County.

The order became effective September 15, 2026, and is scheduled to remain in effect through December 14, 2026, unless terminated earlier by the Bexar County Fire Marshal or Commissioners Court.

Under the order, household trash and other domestic waste may only be burned in an enclosure, such as a burn barrel with a metal wire mesh screen that prevents the spread of sparks and flames. Certain activities authorized by state law are exempt from the order.

⚠️ Violations are a Class C misdemeanor and may result in a fine of up to $500.

Please help us protect our community by following the burn ban and using extra caution with anything that could start a fire.

Help us prevent wildfires and keep Bexar County safe! 🚒🔥

🎒 National Preparedness Month: Build a Kit

If an emergency disrupted power, water, transportation, or other services, would your household have the supplies it needs?

An emergency kit can help you and your family be more self-sufficient when normal services aren't immediately available.

Consider including:

💧 Water
🥫 Nonperishable food
🔦 Flashlights and extra batteries
🩹 First-aid supplies
💊 Medications and medical necessities
🔋 Phone chargers and portable power banks
📻 Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
🐾 Food and supplies for your pets
📄 Copies of important documents

Your kit should be built around your household’s specific needs. Think about children, older adults, medical needs, pets, and anything else your family relies on every day.

You don’t have to build it all at once. Start with a few essentials and add to your supplies over time.

Find a complete emergency supply list at Ready.gov/kit.

September 11, 2001 — We Will Never Forget.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness shown in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Among those we remember are the 343 firefighters of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to help others.

They climbed the stairs while thousands were coming down. They answered their calling knowing the danger ahead, driven by a commitment to serve and protect people they had never met.

We also remember the thousands of victims who lost their lives that day, the families who continue to carry their loss, and the first responders and survivors whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, their courage and sacrifice remain a powerful reminder of what it means to serve others.

Today, and always, we remember.

343. Never Forgotten.

🔥 Grill Safely This Labor Day Weekend!

Labor Day weekend is a great time to fire up the grill and enjoy time with family and friends. Before you get cooking, take a few simple steps to help keep your cookout safe:

🔥 Keep grills at least 3 feet away from your home, deck railings, overhangs, and anything that can burn.

👀 Never leave a lit grill unattended. Fires can grow quickly.

👧🐕 Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from the grill area.

🧹 Keep your grill clean and free of grease buildup to help prevent flare-ups and fires.

⛽ If you're using a propane grill, check the tank, hose, and connections for leaks or damage before lighting.

♨️ For charcoal grills, allow coals to cool completely before disposing of them in a metal container.

A little preparation can help make sure the only thing getting fired up this Labor Day is the grill!

Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend from all of us at District 7 Fire Rescue! 🇺🇸🚒

☀️ KNOW THE SIGNS: Heat Exhaustion vs. Heat Stroke

With summer temperatures still hanging around, knowing the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke can help you recognize when someone needs help.

🥵 HEAT EXHAUSTION
Watch for:
• Heavy sweating
• Cool, pale, or clammy skin
• Dizziness or weakness
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Muscle cramps

➡️ Move the person to a cooler area, loosen clothing, apply cool wet cloths, and have them sip water if they are able.

🚨 HEAT STROKE — A MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Watch for:
• Confusion, altered behavior, or loss of consciousness
• Hot skin
• Severe headache or dizziness
• Nausea or vomiting
• Very high body temperature

📞 Call 911 immediately. Move the person to a cooler area and begin rapidly cooling them while waiting for help. Do not give fluids to someone who is confused, unconscious, or unable to safely drink.

Remember: Heat exhaustion can progress to heat stroke. If symptoms are getting worse or the person becomes confused or unresponsive, treat it as an emergency.

Stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat, and keep an eye on those around you. ☀️💧
