Our very own SSgt Evan Drumm arranged Pat Metheny's Letter From Home for three trombones and tuba. As we reflect on 250 years of freedom, we want to take a moment to acknowledge every service member who has sacrificed precious time away from their family on deployment. There has been an Air Force Band presence in the Middle East for the last 20 years and the bands play a critical role in cultivating relationships and connections between our airmen, the Unites States, and the deployment region.

Celebrate 250 years of American Independence with your United States Air Force Band of the West! Follow us over the next few months as we tell stories of our member's favorite American musicians and composers, and how they have shaped the culture of the United States into what it is today.

Our rock band had a blast performing at the Hyundai Air & Sea Show this last weekend, collaborating with U.S. Air Force Recruiting and performing for 1 million attendees. It was great to connect face-to-face with so many people and be a lot of civilian's first contact with the Air Force! Plus, it's always a good time when the Air Force Thunderbirds perform ✈️

Last Friday we hosted 102 students from the Canyon High School Band up in Amarillo, TX at our unit. We gave them a tour of our practice spaces, giving them a chance to talk one on one with some of our members, and then our brass quintet and jazz combo performed for them. We ended the day with a group rehearsal of two of the pieces they're currently working on, let by our 2nd Lieutenant Drew Eary. It was a great opportunity to show them what we do in the military and how military bands contribute to the mission of JBSA!
