During a Special Board Meeting on Monday, May 18, the North East ISD Board of Trustees named Interim Superintendent Anthony Jarrett as the Lone Finalist for Superintendent.
“He has maintained a strong commitment to student success, academic excellence and community partnerships,” said Board President David Beyer. “We are confident that his leadership, experience, and vision will help guide our District forward, toward continued growth and opportunity for all staff students and families.”
Jarrett brings more than 25 years of experience in public education including six years with NEISD. He previously served as the District’s Chief Instructional Officer before being named Interim Superintendent in December of last year. Prior to joining North East ISD in 2019, Jarrett served as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent in Northside ISD.
Following the announcement, Jarrett shared his gratitude to the board and enthusiasm for this next chapter.
“Sitting in this role is a humbling experience,” said Jarrett. “The mindset of service first and self second is something that I fundamentally believe in. I think working alongside you guys, I know our District will continue to grow, get better and be one of the best districts in the country.”
Per state mandate, NEISD trustees must wait at least 21 days before officially voting to appoint Jarrett as our District’s newest Superintendent.

At Harmony Hills Elementary School, our students come first. When students arrive in the morning, they are greeted with smiles, hugs, and a "Good morning! Have a great day!" by Kimberly Varner, our School Counselor.
For 5 years, Ms. Varner has worked on building a culture of kindness and empathy, helped students develop confidence in their abilities, and fostered the development of social skills in students from Pre-K to 5th grade.
"One of my favorite things about my job is helping kids understand how amazing their brains are - how they develop, how they function, and the why behind how they are feeling. I want every child that comes through our doors to feel seen, heard, wanted, loved, and safe within our walls. I want them to have the perseverance to keep working towards their dreams even when it's hard. Challenges don't mean we can't do something - it simply means we can't do it YET. At Harmony Hills, we all work as a team to help students understand that we can practice, try new solutions, and ask for help when we need it. It's important to me that our students leave our school with confidence, strong relationship skills, and a desire to be a positive impact in our society. " Ms. Varner explains.
As National School Counseling Week comes to a close, Ms. Varner is spending today working with our students to build the foundation that will allow our Harmony Hills Hawks to accomplish their goals today and chase their dreams in the future!
