Yesterday, during routine patrol, Precinct 1 Deputy D. Ramos observed a vehicle traveling northbound on IH-35 that struck the trailer of an 18-wheeler. As a result of the impact, the vehicle sustained a blown tire and visible damage. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to yield. After a few minutes of attempting to stop the driver, additional agencies became involved.
With assistance from SAPD and Bexar County Precinct 4, they were able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop, preventing potential injury to the driver and others on the roadway. It was later determined that multiple calls had been received regarding the vehicle driving recklessly.
Further investigation indicated the driver may have been experiencing a medical episode. The individual was transported by EMS for medical evaluation.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts and cooperation of all agencies involved, the situation was resolved safely without major incident. Excellent work by all agencies.

Please join us in wishing Constable Tejeda the best as he attends a week-long state-mandated training at the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) in Round Rock, Texas.
This continuing education program is attended by Constables across the State of Texas. Representing Precinct #4, Constable Kathryn Brown is also in attendance alongside fellow Constables from across the state.
Best of luck to all the Constables participating in this important training!
