Meals on Wheels San Antonio Nourishing lives, enabling independence, and caring for our seniors. It takes less than 1 hour to volunteer during the work week.

At Meals on Wheels of San Antonio, we help seniors maintain their independence by delivering hot, nutritious meals to their homes. Meals are prepared under the direction of a registered dietitian and are often the primary source of nutrition received by our clients. Daily interaction with volunteers can combat loneliness and provide opportunities for early intervention in life-threatening situations.

🏀 It's game day in San Antonio, and we're hearing from one of our biggest cheerleaders and team members behind our mission!

Gina has been helping the older adults we serve for 13 years, and as she shared, Meals on Wheels San Antonio is so much more than a meal! Through programs like AniMeals and Comfy Casas, we're helping older adults stay independent, connected, and cared for in the place they call home! 🏡

Our October Volunteer of the Month is Brenda Harris! ✨

Brenda began volunteering with Meals on Wheels San Antonio back in 2024. She retired from the Army after over 2 decades of service and wanted to continue to serve her community. She believes that we are all here to help others in any way possible, and being a meal delivery volunteer allows her to help our homebound neighbors by providing them with a nutritious meal. 🚙🍽️

Sometimes our volunteers are the only people our clients see, so to help reduce loneliness, it’s important that these meal deliveries provide more than just a meal. And for Brenda, that’s her favorite part of volunteering: delivering meals and bringing them comfort by socializing with them and letting them know we’re here for them through good times and bad. Because a smile, a friendly greeting, and a wellness check can go a long way in ensuring our clients are able to age safely with dignity and independence.

So thank you, Brenda, for helping us deliver More Than A Meal and for your dedication to making a difference in the lives of others! 🫶
