Colin Powell, the first Black U.S. Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has died at the age of 84 from complications of COVID-19. After serving two tours in Vietnam, Powell ascended to the top of the military ranks and helped influence American foreign policy throughout his career. Powell spoke frequently about his views on leadership and American democracy, dedicating his life to public service.
