Our LFL #23 hosted Halloween for kids on the street by offering books along with Sweet Treats! We kept the lights on to encourage the joy of reading and treating.

Our LFL #23 Literary Elves visited a nearby neighborhood and populated Little Red, The Churchill Baptist Library with over 50 titles favoring elementary aged kiddos, adolescents, and even some more adult fare. Over this past weekend, on June 1st, Little Free Library #23 on Auldine Drive was visited by the Bork (The Rare and Wondiferous Book Stork) and is thusly refreshed with a generous supply of stories and imagination fodder! Open the pages and follow along with wonder in your heart! Be aware of the natural beauty surrounding you and be kind to those smaller than you!

In a nearby neighborhood, our Literary Elves went on walk about to share books with another LFL. We Refer to this Neighboring LFL as Little Red, the Churchill Baptist Library. The Visit has its own post.

Friday the 13th brought a run on the library down to 5 books…. So I restocked with nearly 50 new ones today!

This needs to be available as a fund raiser here in San Antonio somewhere!

Another pair of families including 5 kiddos all under “this tall” were at our LFL 23/300 today on Auldine… leaving with maybe 7-8 new adventures clutched in their hands !

I took the opportunity to shuffle up the shelves some and added another 30 or so books that had been recently retired from San Antonio’s Public Library system 🙂

Time to swing by and help yourself or your kiddos to some great reads 🙂. My focus in stocking this is 75% kiddo interest and 25% grown up interest…. Bring them back when done - or don’t. Add some, or not. Our goal is a walking / driving destination where children can find joy and magic and no money is needed. Ever. Some weeks I’ll add free small kids toys just as a fun bonus. Other times small travel games… this little building is about creating joy and happiness within children and to support building a lifetime habit of befriending books personally and educationally and professionally.
