Oppressed Revolutionaries for Worker Power

Thank you to all who came out to our monthly coffee with comrades. We read the chapter “Freedom’s Just Another Word” from the book “A Brief History of Neoliberalism” by David Harvey. Attendees expressed their wants to learn more about neoliberalism due to the cloudiness of this destructive political and economic thought.

This chapter out of the gate served to lay out the lies of neoliberalism. Often touted as an economic theory for personal “freedoms for all” neoliberalism hide behind this notion while making the ultra rich wealthier while stealing from the working class of the world. Neoliberalism is a lie!
This chapter also told the story of neoliberalism birth, from its trial runs during the war in Iraq and the Chilean Coup, the western world and the United States quickly pushed neoliberalism across the world. Through neoliberalism a new faction of wealthy class elites was born from the financialization of all forms of economy. From Reagan and Thatcher neoliberalism proved to grow the wealth of the working class and build neo colonialism.

An awe inspiring show of organized peoples with the political will to protect their revolutionary project and commitment to the struggles that lie ahead! Racism, (internal) colonialism, over policing, alcohol abuse, consumerism, militarism, the list of harms of fiesta goes on and the racism towards Mexico, and Latin America as a whole, leads to processes like folklorization, cultural reductionism and heritagization that ultimately uphold a capitalist/imperialist system.

We have the capability to celebrate our culture ourselves that doesn't rely on money, alcohol and exploitation. When organized, working people can hold celebrations that truly uplift their culture, ancestry, history and political will!

May Day, Primero de Mayo, International Workers Day a holiday to commemorate the struggle of the workers before us and the struggle that lies ahead.

The Haymarket Affair, a fight for the 8 hour workday turned deadly when 6 workers were shot by police, followed by state attacks on anarchists and labor organizing.

Today we see anti labor laws, discriminatory workplace practices, union busting and working class division across the U.S. but working class people, not just in the States but globally, have always and will always continue to fight for dignified workplaces and dignified lives.

We cannot depend on our government and it's false democracy with it's co opted language and progressive sheen to give us our rights or guarantee our safety. Only through the unification of our struggles and solidarity across all working people can we create the political will to take control of our workplaces and our lives!

Join us as we read excerpts from “Fascism and Social Revolution” by Rajani Palme Dutt. This text written in 1935 is an analysis of the rise of fascism in western Europe. Dutt was a British Marxist Leninist born to immigrants in 1864 his perspective also ties colonial and the beginnings of neocolonialism to fascism. Currently we’re seeing Capitalism abandon neoliberalism in favor of fascism again, in order to fight this we need to learn what our comrades in the past experienced.

Last week Oppressed Revolutionaries for Worker Power practiced a week of action for Iran.

In Thursday we held a study to understand the roots of the illegal and imperialist war America is forcing the working class to wage on the sovereign people of Iran.

Attendees were presented a timeline, handouts, and discussed what living in the belly of the beast entails for the working class here in San Antonio. We are building an anti war San Antonio!

Following the event we turned our new knowledge into action. Saturday we postered to spread the message of no war in Iran!

Our working class people should not have to die in a rich man’s war!
