Nice to attend the St. Mary’s University President’s Reception during Fiesta Oyster Bake yesterday.

Afterward, we headed to the Texas Cavaliers crowning of King Antonio—another great Fiesta tradition. Good times all around celebrating with the community.

We held oral argument in the new Joe Gamez Courtroom, and later the en banc court had the privilege of judging the finals of the Schlueter 1L Moot Court Competition.

Congratulations to champions Brenden Herrmann and Jackson Veal, and to finalists Simone Bergeron and Adison McFall. Both teams did an outstanding job—no doubt they have bright futures ahead in the legal profession.

Honored to attend and receive a medal from The Court of the Final Frontiers—a great Fiesta tradition.

Thank you to the San Antonio Bar Association Appellate Section for hosting this past Friday’s Coffee with the Fourth Court of Appeals and the Eighth Court of Appeals.

We were especially pleased to welcome the justices of the Eighth Court of Appeals, who held oral argument in our courtroom.

As I welcome the New Year and reflect on my first anniversary as a justice on the Fourth Court of Appeals, I am truly honored to serve the great State of Texas. My swearing-in ceremony is a moment I will always remember. This past year has been defined by thoughtful, principled work—faithfully applying the law, upholding the Constitution, and serving the people of Texas. I’m grateful for my family, colleagues, and our dedicated staff, proud of what we’ve accomplished, and energized for what lies ahead. May God bless you and your family in 2026.
