This morning we celebrated one of our favorite traditions — our annual senior breakfast and final walk through the halls of Longs Creek Elementary School. ❤️🎓
Watching these seniors walk the same halls they once walked as little Cowboys was such a special and emotional moment for our students and staff. From tiny backpacks and first-day tears to caps, gowns, and graduation smiles… what an incredible journey it has been.
Our current students cheered them on with so much excitement, looking up to the Class of 2026 and dreaming about the day they’ll take that same walk. It’s a reminder that no matter how much time passes, Longs Creek will always be a part of their story.
To the Class of 2026 — congratulations! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and can’t wait to see where life takes you next. Always remember that once a Cowboy, always a Cowboy. 🤠💙

During a Special Board Meeting on Monday, May 18, the North East ISD Board of Trustees named Interim Superintendent Anthony Jarrett as the Lone Finalist for Superintendent.
“He has maintained a strong commitment to student success, academic excellence and community partnerships,” said Board President David Beyer. “We are confident that his leadership, experience, and vision will help guide our District forward, toward continued growth and opportunity for all staff students and families.”
Jarrett brings more than 25 years of experience in public education including six years with NEISD. He previously served as the District’s Chief Instructional Officer before being named Interim Superintendent in December of last year. Prior to joining North East ISD in 2019, Jarrett served as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent in Northside ISD.
Following the announcement, Jarrett shared his gratitude to the board and enthusiasm for this next chapter.
“Sitting in this role is a humbling experience,” said Jarrett. “The mindset of service first and self second is something that I fundamentally believe in. I think working alongside you guys, I know our District will continue to grow, get better and be one of the best districts in the country.”
Per state mandate, NEISD trustees must wait at least 21 days before officially voting to appoint Jarrett as our District’s newest Superintendent.

Today was nacho average day in first grade! Our LC first graders were soup-er excited to host Reading Restaurant for their hungry guests. Many stories were devoured and smiles exchanged. First grade is kind of a big dill! 😉

Our Kindergarteners wrapped up their amazing plant unit in the most fun (and delicious) way… by “eating a plant!” 🥦🌱🍅
We explored all the different parts of a plant using healthy foods:
🥦 Broccoli for the flower
🥬 Spinach for the leaf
🥒 Celery for the stem
🌻 Sunflower seeds for the seeds
🥕 Carrots for the roots
🍅 Tomato for the fruit
What a fun, hands-on way to learn about plants while enjoying a healthy snack too! 💚
