David Arthur Hardy-Holley was born in North Hornell, New York, on May 23, 1968. He lived his first two years in Wellsville, NY, and moved with his family to Geneseo before, at the age of 8 he moved with his mother and father, Don and Anne Hardy-Holley, to Andover, then to Lakeville, Massachusetts. In 1980, David moved to San Antonio where he attended Hobby Middle School and graduated from Clark High School in 1986. David worked for Furniture in the Raw for 17 years before finding his true profession as a policeman. He was briefly employed by the City of Helotes, worked at Lackland Air Force base assisting in taking care of the police dogs, then went to the San Antonio Independent School District where he worked serving the students at Lanier High School as a police officer. David was instrumental in and very proud of helping to start the Explorers Program there. He loved his work and enjoyed the students, relating to them in a very personal way. In his brief time at SAISD, David made many friends among his fellow police officers whom he admired and respected. He was proud to be a part of the brother- and sisterhood they all shared. In 1997, David married the love of his life, April Miller, who survives. April valiantly supported and cared for David during his 2-1/2 year journey as he struggled to beat the cancer that had invaded his body. His sister, Amy Greene who is a nurse, joined in and, as a team, April, Anne, Don, Amy, and Michael, David's 12-year-old nephew, lovingly cared for David until his Spirit made its transition on August 12, 2007. David is survived by his nephew, Joshua Greene, with whom he shared many hours during his illness as friend and companion. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Greene, his niece, Chelsea Greene, and his great-nephew, Ross Spencer, all of Wellsville, NY. A long-time friend, Sandy Noyes, survives and we wish to thank her for her generosity and friendship as we all went through this experience. David was preceded in death by his Aunt Jeanne Huber and his maternal grandparents, Percy and Gertrude McIntosh of Almond, NY, and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Elma L. David was loved and adored by members of April's family, her parents Robert and Capri Miller and extended members of the Miller family, her grandmother Rita Ross Lawson and extended members of the Ross and Lawson family and the De Laureal Family in New Orleans, LA. He was willing to do whatever it took, to help out any of his many friends any time they needed him. Those who knew him also knew how he loved his dogs which he and April treated as though they were their children. David's best friends since the age of 12, Steve Cohen and Steve Beaty, can attest to his long-term loyalty and friendship. David will be missed. He was here on this earth plane giving what he had to give for 39 years. We wish he had remained to continue his work, but we release him to be wherever his spirit is needed. Good-bye son, husband, brother, uncle, friend, and fellow traveler.
