One question we often hear on medical calls is:
“Where’s the ambulance?” 🚑
While an ambulance may still be responding, Squad 1 is often one of the first units to arrive on scene. Our crews carry advanced medical equipment, including cardiac monitors and EMS bags, so patient care can begin immediately while additional resources are on the way.
Now you’ve seen inside Squad 1 👀

Training on New Technology 🚙
We had the opportunity to work with Waymo and get hands-on with autonomous vehicle technology—learning how these vehicles operate and how they respond to emergency lights and sirens.
Trainings like this help give us the tools and understanding needed to handle calls involving this type of technology. As our job continues to evolve, staying prepared is always the priority so we can best serve our community. Waymo

Big thanks to Waymo for coming out and spending some time with our crew today 👋🏼
We had a great training learning more about their vehicles and how they operate, especially from a first responder standpoint. Always a plus getting hands-on and asking real-world questions.
We also appreciate our neighboring departments for joining us—always good to train together and stay on the same page.
Looking forward to seeing this technology out in our city and continuing to learn how it fits into what we do every day. 🚒🤖

Firefighter Ramirez partnered up with the City of Live Oak to help them with a car seat installation event. Thank you for representing our department well and always willing to help where needed!
Officer Jerry Atkinson proudly represented the City of Live Oak at the Back-to-School Car Seat Checkup event held Saturday, July 26 at San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital. It was blazing hot, but he was more than happy to be there in service of our community and the safety of our little residents.
Officer Atkinson has been a certified Child Passenger Seat Technician since 2010 and recently renewed his certification this past May. Each car seat check takes about 30 minutes, and he's happy to assist any parent or caregiver who needs one. IT'S A FREE SERVICE! Just call the Live Oak Police Department to schedule an appointment at 210-945-1700.
A big shout out to Firefighter D. Ramirez II from the Terrell Hills Fire Department for teaming up with LOPD at the event. And a special nod to Councilmember Ed Cimics, who shares the same certification and took the original training course alongside Officer Atkinson.
Helping families and keeping kids safe is always worth the sweat.
