JBSA Youth Programs Parents,
Providing quality childcare is a top priority for Joint Base San Antonio. Due to staffing constraints resulting from the current hiring freeze, JBSA has implemented temporary adjustments to our Child and Youth Programs (CYP) summer programming. While we are unable to fully staff our School Age Care program to support full Summer Day Camp enrollment, we remain committed to meeting the childcare needs of our community.
To maximize existing staff and ensure full-day childcare operates at full capacity, Youth Program staff will be reallocated to support School Age Care operations. This strategic shift allows us to maintain full-day childcare services, but necessitates the temporary suspension of teen programs, open recreation, and youth sports pending the approval of new NAF hires through AFSVC and DAF.
JBSA CYP will continue to offer AFSVC-approved Specialty Camps at each installation. For details regarding Specialty Camp enrollment, please contact your respective program.
We recognize these adjustments may impact families, and we regret any inconvenience this may cause. JBSA is diligently working to expedite the hiring process and restore full programming as soon as possible. Staffing levels are monitored daily, and enrollment capacity will be adjusted accordingly.
For questions regarding CYP summer programming, please contact your program director. Families seeking information on alternative summer program options in the San Antonio area may contact Andrea Nicholas, Community Child Care Coordinator, at [email protected].
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this temporary situation. The safety and well-being of our children and staff remain paramount.
