Congratulations to our very own Dr. Ralph Riviello on receiving the prestigious Pamela P. Bensen Trailblazer Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians!

Ralph joined our Board in 2020, served as our 2024 Board President, and is our President-Elect for 2027. We are incredibly fortunate to have his leadership at the Bexar County Family Justice Center. His insight, forward thinking, and ability to find solutions to even the toughest challenges make him an invaluable member of our Board.

⭐️Peacemaking takes partnership⭐️

The Bexar County Family Justice Center was deeply honored to receive the 2026 Peacemaker Award from the San Antonio Bar Foundation at the San Antonio Bar Association’s 2026 Gala. 🎩

The Peacemaker Award recognizes individuals & organizations that promote nonviolent resolutions to community conflicts.🕊️This year’s honor was especially meaningful because it recognized the collective work of the entire BCFJC community.💫

For more than 20 years, the BCFJC has brought public agencies & community organizations together in a safe & welcoming location to provide hope, safety & vital support to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

During Crystal Chandler’s nearly eight years as Executive Director, the BCFJC has continued to grow—expanding its coordinated response to high-risk cases, strengthening trauma-informed services & deepening the partnerships that make this work possible. She proudly accepted the award on behalf of the BCFJC.💖

The photographs from this special evening reflect some of the many people who have helped shape, strengthen & sustain the BCFJC including current & former members of the BCFJC Foundation Board of Directors, Center’s first Executive Director, staff members & representatives of our onsite partners. Among those joining Crystal were Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales, SAPD Deputy Chief Russ Van Geffen & Texas RioGrande Legal Aid Director of Client Services Julia Rodriguez.

This award belongs to our dedicated staff, the BCFJC Foundation Board of Directors & our onsite partners—the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, the San Antonio Police Department, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Our Lady of the Lake University & Catholic Charities.

It also reflects the essential support of Bexar County, the City of San Antonio & the Office of the Governor, whose grants & resources help sustain our mission.

We are equally grateful to the donors, sponsors, & community supporters whose generosity strengthens the services available to survivors & their children.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the San Antonio Bar Foundation & the Peacemaker Award Selection Committee for honoring this shared commitment.

Due to an ongoing malfunction with our building’s air-conditioning system, the Bexar County Family Justice Center will remain closed for onsite services today, Monday, September 21.

Our FJC team continues to provide services virtually and remotely during regular business hours. Please call (210) 631-0100 for assistance.

We are actively working to resolve the issue and hope to resume onsite services as soon as possible. We will keep the community updated with any changes.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.
