💧 Learning About Our Waterways! 🌿

Our third graders had a special presentation this morning from the San Antonio River Authority! We learned all about the creeks and waterways right here in our own community. San Antonio River Authority

Did you know that Nichols sits near both the Leon Creek and Culebra Creek waterways? Our students learned how litter can affect our waterways and how pollution can impact wildlife, including the endangered Whooping Crane.

We also learned about:
🌊 Ways we can help protect our water
🚽 The difference between a sewer and a storm drain
💦 Where water travels through each system
🗑️ How litter can make its way into our waterways
🐦 Why keeping our waterways clean helps protect wildlife

We are so thankful to the San Antonio River Authority for helping our students understand that the choices we make in our own community can make a difference in protecting our water and wildlife! 💙
