Jefferson MiddleSchool 6th graders are working on organizational structures of informational texts in the library this week! After a mini-lesson on different structures, the class works together to identify one, then students work independently to identify more. They even get to write a few of their own! Great instructional collaboration between the library and ELA classes! Northside ISD

As part of NISD Boone librarian, Ms. Chavez's "Silly Celebration Series", she hosted a foyer pop up this morning to celebrate "International Sloth Day". Students came by to learn facts about sloths. They received an information coloring sheet with 10 fun facts about sloths, a sloth sticker, and a mini sloth figurine. It was so much fun!

‘Tis the season for spooky folktales, and this Jon Klassen version of a little known Tyrolean folktale is perfect October reading! Leon Valley librarian, Ms Hernandez, used this book to reinforce folktale characteristics with a new-to-them story. Students practiced making inferences throughout the read-aloud, and afterward got to write a prequel or backstory to the tale. Writing and reading skills in the library, wrapped up I. A creepy folktale is always a good time!
