Most of us remember our school personnel like it was yesterday. On May 6, the City of San Antonio Department of Human Services celebrated National School Nurses Day and School Lunch Heroes Day. 👩‍⚕️👩‍🍳

Head Start staff and the Head Start Policy Council visited DeZavala Elementary in and Roy Cisneros Elementary in to recognize the school nurses and Head Start nutrition professionals with appreciation kits. ✨

School nurses serve as advocates, helping to meet the physical, mental, and emotional health needs of students, allowing them to thrive both in and out of the classroom. 🩺🏥🌡️

Between preparing delicious food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Head Start nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. 🍽️🍓🍎🥝

Thank you to our school nurses and school lunch heroes!
