⭐ Girl Scout Gold Award Spotlight ⭐ Congratulations to Gold Award Girl Scout Madalyn N. of San Antonio, a member of Troop 3129 and a student at the International School of the Americas - North East ISD.
Inspired by her passion for creative writing and a desire to encourage imagination in young people, Madalyn created her project, "Write Your World: Creative Writing Workshop." Partnering with The DoSeum, she developed and led four themed creative writing workshops for elementary-aged students, helping them discover that writing can be a fun and powerful tool for creativity—not just a school assignment.
"Elementary schools tend to focus on writing as a practical skill, when I see it as a tool for imagination," she said. "I noticed that when I interacted with kids and suggested creative writing, they heard the word 'writing' and would immediately associate it with boring schoolwork. I wanted to show kids that writing can be very fun, and writing with your imagination can help practical skills, too."
To ensure her project continues to make an impact, Madalyn created a website featuring her complete curriculum and shared it with her school's PALS program, making these resources available for future educators and students. You can find out more about Madalyn's project here: https://bit.ly/4uPy0kJ
Through this project, Madalyn learned valuable lessons in leadership, responsibility, and time management while inspiring the next generation of storytellers.
Madalyn plans to attend Trinity University and pursue a degree in communications.
Thank you, Madalyn, for using your voice, creativity, and leadership to make a lasting difference in your community. 💚✨

⭐ Troop Spotlight ⭐ Girl Scouts in Troop 133 had an amazing experience recently at the Chris Krossing Foundation while working toward their Horseback Riding and Animal Care badges! 🐴💚
The girls had so much fun building skills in equine safety, feeding, riding, and overall horse care. 🐎✨ With expert guidance and passion from Donna East Kiernan and her team, any initial hesitation quickly turned into confidence and excitement. What a great way to grow their confidence and share an experience with their Girl Scout siters! 💚

⭐ Gold Award Girl Scout ⭐ Congratulations to Holly M. from Troop 5100, who completed 12 years in Girl Scouts and earned the Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting! 💚 After tearing her ACL as an athlete, Holly turned her recovery journey into a mission to help others heal, recover, and stay active. 💪💚
For her project, she created “Operation Women’s Fitness,” a YouTube channel (https://bit.ly/3PrAIh7) featuring physical therapy exercise videos designed to help injured athletes and disabled seniors. She also built a free outdoor workout station at a local park and published a recovery journal on Amazon titled "My Journey to Recovery Journal" to encourage others through their healing process. (https://amzn.to/4uysH9l)
As a student athletic trainer for junior varsity and varsity football and basketball teams, she assisted with hydration, first aid, and physical therapy support for athletes. These experiences inspired her passion for kinesiology and sports medicine and showed her the importance of making fitness and recovery resources more accessible to everyone.
Through this project, she hopes to motivate injured athletes to persevere through challenges, promote healthier lifestyles for women and communities of color, and remind others that setbacks can become opportunities for growth and purpose. ✨
We are very proud of Holly, who is also the recipient of the Trifecta Award, which honors girls who have earned all three of Girl Scouting’s highest awards—the Bronze Award, Silver Award, and Gold Award.
Holly is graduating from Veterans Memorial High School in Judson ISD and will attend Texas State University to study biochemistry with a minor in kinesiology sports medicine. Congratulations again, Holly!
