We are proud to share that Kathy Rodriguez, Development Services Administrator, will serve as the moderator for a community conversation hosted by the Asset Funders Network San Antonio Chapter tomorrow: “Preserving Heirs’ Property in Bexar County: Scope, Risk, and Opportunities to Protect Family Assets”.

This important discussion will explore how heirs’ property impacts housing stability, generational wealth, and long-term neighborhood preservation across San Antonio. Kathy’s leadership brings valuable perspective to conversations that support stronger, more resilient communities.

Last week, some of our staff joined the City of San Antonio Department of Resilience and Sustainability for a walking tour of their Cool Neighborhoods Program to see how San Antonio is working to reduce heat in our communities.

From reflective cool pavement and roofs to increased tree canopy and shade, these strategies help lower temperatures, improve comfort, and reduce energy costs, especially in areas most impacted by the urban heat island effect.

Heavy rain can quickly turn into safety hazards around your property. Standing water, clogged drainage, and debris buildup can contribute to flooding and create risks for you and your neighbors.

Staying proactive during wet weather helps protect your home, your neighbors, and our community. Make sure to:
✔ Clear debris from gutters and drainage areas
✔ Check that trash bins are secured
✔ Avoid placing anything in the street that could block water flow

If you see flooding, illegal dumping, or blocked drainage near you, report it through 311.
