This is what mentorship is all about! ποΈβ‘οΈβ¨ A former student who went through our Pape-Dawson Engineers mentorship program kept in touch with his teacher, Mrs. Adame, and volunteered at our JK Extravaganza night.
Read on to learn his story: βI am extremely thankful and blessed to have had the opportunity to participate in the Pape-Dawson Mentorship Program as a mentee from 2012β2014 while in 4th and 5th grade. The program allows engineers to mentor students and inspire them to think big about their futures.
Growing up, I wanted to be a mechanic like my dad, but when I was introduced to my mentor, Ben Setterbo, my eyes were opened to the world of civil engineering. I have always been interested in how the world works, and throughout my time in school, I realized that civil engineering was the career I wanted to pursue.
Over the years, I stayed in contact with Ben, and we developed a long-lasting friendship. After high school, I had the opportunity to work at Pape-Dawson as a survey intern and later continued as an engineering intern from 2021β2025. After graduating from college, I was offered a full-time position as a Civil Engineer with my mentorβs company, Setterbo Engineers.
I am extremely grateful for the mentorship, guidance, and opportunities I have received throughout the years, and I look forward to continuing my career in civil engineering while inspiring future generations the same way I was inspired.β
