Now is the time to take action. I encourage everyone to contact your state representatives and urge them to keep the $80 million investment in the California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program in the final state budget so faith based organizations and nonprofits have the resources they need to help keep their communities safe.

This month, we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and recognize the countless contributions Asian American and Pacific Islander communities have made to San Diego and our country.
From public service and education to small businesses, culture, advocacy, and community leadership, AAPI communities continue to help shape and strengthen our city every day.
This month and every month, we celebrate the diversity, resilience, and rich cultures that make our communities stronger.

As families and communities gather to celebrate Eid al-Adha, we recognize the values at the heart of this holiday - faith, compassion, generosity, and service to others.
This year’s celebration also comes at a time of deep pain for many in our San Diego Muslim community following the horrific and hateful attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We mourn the lives lost, stand with the families and loved ones affected, and reaffirm that hate and violence have no place in our city.
Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating. May this holiday bring peace, healing, and strength to our communities.

Honored to join the Rancho Bernardo community today at Webb Park to remember and honor the local servicemembers who lost their lives in the years following 9/11. Their sacrifice and service will always be remembered, and we are grateful to the families and loved ones who continue to carry their legacy forward.
We also celebrated Marty Judge and thanked him for his years of leadership and dedication to the Rancho Bernardo community as he prepares for his move to Indiana. Marty has been a tireless advocate for our community and someone who has brought people together time and time again. He will be greatly missed, and we wish him all the best in this next chapter.

Today, we honor and remember the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country and our freedoms.
On Memorial Day, we reflect on the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our nation, and we keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts.

I had a wonderful time at the 2026 Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast celebrating the legacy of Harvey Milk and the ongoing fight for equality and justice.
Harvey Milk showed us the power of courage, visibility, and public service rooted in compassion. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights continue to face attacks across the country, events like this remind us why it is so important to stand together and keep pushing forward.
Thank you to the organizers and everyone who continues working to build a more inclusive San Diego where everyone can live openly, safely, and authentically.
