ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 20, 2024) Chief Machinery Repairman Nicholas Barkdull, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), provides pipe patching training during a flooding drill in the ship’s hangar, April 20, 2024. Wasp is underway in the Atlantic Ocean and is the flagship of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (WSP ARG)-24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) completing Composite Training Unit Exercise under the evaluation of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 4 and Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG). ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 29, 2023) Machinery Repairman 3rd Class Priscila Simpson, from Houston, assigned to the first-in-class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) engineering department, adjusts her firefighting helmet, March 29, 2023. Ford is underway in the Atlantic Ocean executing its composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX), an intense, multi-week exercise designed to fully integrate a carrier strike group as a cohesive, multi-mission fighting force and to test their ability to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea. As the first-in-class ship of Ford-class aircraft carriers, CVN 78 represents a generational leap in the U.S. Navy's capacity to project power on a global scale.
