In partnership with Mission Driven Finance, the County of San Diego is hosting the Contracts and Capital event in its launch of public & private collaborations on August 28th at 4PM. The core highlight of the event is the panel, which will consist of the County of San Diego Office of Equity and Racial Justice - Office of Economic Development and Government Affairs, Mission Driven Finance, and two Mission Driven Finance portfolio companies.

The goal is to encourage nonprofits and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs) to become bidding-ready to successfully bid & secure procurement contracts. We will have members from our Department of Purchasing and Contracting on site to walk businesses and non-profits through the County’s procurement registration process – BuyNet.  This will allow new non-profits and businesses to get registered and begin viewing and applying for County contracts.

We will also have resource tables and networking opportunities!  We're excited to have you join this exciting event and hope you can register for the event.  Please see the QR code or visit the link to register.

If you guessed Mama’s Kitchen from yesterday’s reel... you were right! 🥰

Last month, welcomed the OERJ team, sharing with us about their history and impact before we spent the afternoon volunteering! Mama's Kitchen believes that everyone is entitled to the basic necessity of life - nutritious food. They provide medically tailored meals to San Diegans with critical illness, and since forming in 1990, they have delivered over 12 million meals!

OERJ team members volunteered as drivers, delivering meals to well over a dozen community members. In addition to delivering meals, there are many other ways to volunteer, such as preparing meal bags and offering office support. You can learn more about Mama’s Kitchen and get involved at https://mamaskitchen.org/.

The San Diego region is rich with organizations providing much-needed services and supporting our neighbors in the community. Mama’s Kitchen is one of those amazing organizations, and we are so grateful to their team for sharing their time and expertise with us! OERJ is committed to engaging with and supporting the San Diego community, and we will continue to volunteer and be in community with local organizations doing great work. Where should we volunteer next? Drop your thoughts in the comments 👇

We can’t believe it’s already been one month since ! 🫨 What better way to celebrate than by sharing our final Resource Fair organization spotlight: Más Allá and Community-Centric Fundraising! 🎉🎈

Más Allá [mahs ah-yah], Spanish for "beyond," is a values-driven, community-centered, fundraising consulting firm focused on raising revenue for and with BIPOC communities across the U.S., resourcing with care and for justice, and re-examining our beliefs and practices in the non-profit and philanthropic sector. Learn more about them at https://www.masallaconsulting.com/

Community-Centric Fundraising is a movement to evolve how fundraising is done in the nonprofit sector. Its goal is to support fundraisers and other nonprofit professionals to re-examine every fundraising philosophy and practice they have been taught, engage in vigorous ongoing conversations, and explore doing fundraising in ways that reduce harm and further social justice. Learn more about them at https://communitycentricfundraising.org/

And that’s a wrap! Thank you again to everyone who participated in . We are so proud of and grateful for our community. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday at Threads of Change! 🧵

We couldn't be more proud of and grateful for our community. Threads of Change gathered community builders, changemakers, advocates, educators, public servants, organizers, students, dancers, artists, healers, and dreamers into one shared space. Through discussion and dialogue, listening, sharing food together, and more, we worked to co-create a more inclusive and thriving San Diego County.

This gathering is just the beginning. We are looking forward to continuing to deepen these relationships and thread our stories, voices, and visions together in community. Together, we will continue to build and invest in the future of our region.
