Higbee family, DDG-123 is proud to be open to the public this weekend for San Diego Fleet Week! Full time table of events is in the attached post, take this excellent opportunity to come and see the home of the world's greatest Navy!

Are you coming to 'Meet the Fleet?"



Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) is hosting “Meet the Fleet at 32nd St.,” Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024. The event is free to the public and features ship tours, the Navy Region Southwest Band, demonstrations, static displays, information booths, rides, and food and drink for purchase. The event runs from 9am to 3pm on the Wet-Side’s south-end of base. See more info at NavyLifeSW/MeetTheFleet.

All guests will enter through Gate 9 at the intersection of Harbor Dr. and 8th St. in National City, California Our security team will direct guests to parking areas on base. Event is also accessible on the San Diego MTS Trolley Blue Line (8th Street Stop). Entrance to the Base is directly across Harbor Dr. from the 8th Street Trolley Stop. Shuttles are provided to take guests from Gate 9 to the event area. Please read guidance below for ship tours, which require additional security measures for all guests. Expect increased traffic along Harbor Dr., and local streets between Harbor Dr. and Interstate 5 throughout the day.

DDG 123 Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee , a newer Flight IIA Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer (DDG) supporting the Navy’s offensive and defensive mission.
USS Montgomery - LCS 8 , an Independence-class variant littoral combat ship (LCS) supporting various Navy missions through its modular design and flexible capabilities.
USS Pinckney (DDG 91) , an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer (DDG) supporting the Navy’s offensive and defensive mission.
USS Tripoli LHA-7li , a “Big Deck” amphibious assault ship (LHA/LHD) supporting the Navy’s amphibious warfighting mission.

Ship tours are FREE
All adult visitors (18 years of age and older) must show a valid U.S. FEDERAL or STATE issued identification or passport
Visitors under 18 years of age shall be accompanied by a properly identified adult
All visitors and their baggage will be inspected before entering the pier enclave
Adults with young children must use extreme caution when transiting the ship during tours
U.S. Navy ships are NOT ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant
NO video/audio recording or live streaming while inside the pier enclave or on the ship
Photography is at the discretion of the ship
Closed-toe shoes are highly recommended
NO pets (including ADA dogs) are authorized on the ships
There are multiple security-controlled areas you will enter during your visit

NO ice chests and/or coolers are allowed in the event area
NO pets of any kind are allowed in the event area

USS LENAH SUTCLIFFE HIGBEE now serves as the Air and Missile Defense Commander for the Nimitz Strike Group (CCSG-11), a position also known as "NOVEMBER WHISKEY". This week, HIGBEE orchestrated a four-day large-scale missile defense exercise in the SOCAL OPAREA comprised of multiple destroyers (DDGs), littoral combat ships (LCSs) and two aircraft carriers (CVNs). I gathered the crew for a photo on the forecastle at the conclusion of the exercise to commemorate the occasion. Well done team... Get Wins! - CO sends

(San Diego CA, 08 September 2024) The crew of USS Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee successfully completes Final Battle Problem in preparation for advance phase certification. Final Battle Problem tests the ship's ability to respond to a complex multiday wartime scenario that designed to test all aspects of force protection, warfighting readiness, and damage control.
