Spring is the perfect time to grow a healthy and resilient rain garden! 🌧️🌱

Rain gardens capture and absorb runoff, helping reduce pollution, prevent erosion, and recharge groundwater. When planted with California native species, they also create habitat for pollinators like bees, butterflies, and birds!

Keep your rain garden working effectively with these simple steps:

✂️ Prune overgrowth and remove weeds to maintain healthy plants and water flow.
🍂 Remove sediment and debris to improve absorption.
🪏 Check for erosion and stabilize soil as needed.

Big news for Lakeside and Valle De Oro! The County is making major progress in strengthening community flood protection. We’re excited to share that the repairs to the storm drain system on Happy Way are now complete. The Flood Control Major Maintenance Project focuses on maintaining and repairing existing storm drain culverts—critical infrastructure that channels stormwater, reduces flood risks, and protects nearby homes, businesses, and roadways.
With Happy Way complete, similar repairs are underway on Casa De La Torre Court, with Burkshire Place up next. These repairs were identified through routine inspections that flag deficiencies in the flood control system. By addressing the highest‑priority sites each year, the County helps ensure the entire system functions efficiently and reliably, especially during heavy rain events.
