Great opportunity this morning meeting with UCSD faculty and staff to discuss the Navy’s NUPOC program. (The NUPOC program is a U.S. Navy initiative that allows college students and recent graduates to become nuclear-trained officers while earning a full-time salary during their education.)
Naval Base Point Loma Commanding Officer, Captain Jeff Yackeren, presented and highlighted the many opportunities available.

Old Town Academy in Old Town awarded the State of California’s Purple Star Designation.
Representing Naval Base Point Loma Fire & Emergency Services, Assistant Chief Jordan Leithem and Engine 110 were in attendance, standing alongside school leadership, students, state representatives, Mayor Todd Gloria, and members of the local media for this important milestone.

San Diego Unified School District Office of Extend Learning Opportunities has released information regarding summer enrollment. San Diego Unified will offer two sessions: June 4- July 2 and July 6-17. The academic program will be offered during session 1. Enrollment will open on March 23, 2026 and close on March 27, 2026. Please note that summer enrollment is only available to students that are currently enrolled in San Diego Unified Schools.

NBPL has concluded Exercise. FPCON BRAVO is a moderate-level security posture requiring heightened vigilance, increased security measures at installations, and potential delays in accessing bases. BRAVO is a U.S. Department of Defense Force Protection Condition indicating an increased and more predictable threat of terrorist activity or hostile acts against personnel or facilities.

✔ Access Control: May include 100% ID checks or randomized security checks at all entry points.
✔ Traffic: May experience slower access to certain gates, parking lots, and streets.
✔ Facility Lockdown: Buildings, rooms, and storage areas not in regular use are secured and periodically inspected.
✔ Impact on Personnel: Personnel should be vigilant, report suspicious activity, and plan for potential delays at gates during inspections.

FPCON Charlie is a high-level U.S. Navy security posture triggered when intelligence indicates a terrorist attack is likely or an incident has occurred in the area. It initiates immediate, stringent measures to "Deny" threats, including, but not limited to, 100% ID checks, restricted installation access, and increased patrols.

✔ Access Control: Strict, 100% ID checks at all entry points.
✔ Traffic: Possible closure of certain gates, parking lots, and streets.
✔ Facility Lockdown: Buildings may lock main doors, and personnel may be required to shelter in place.
