Mental health support matters.
Studies show that su***de is the 2nd leading cause of death among people ages 10–24. Trauma and experiences such as war, displacement, and major disasters can also increase the likelihood of mental health challenges.
At the Ihsan Center, we believe early intervention and community support can help create pathways toward healing and hope.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, support our work by scanning the QR code to donate and help us continue serving individuals and families in our community!

On behalf of the staff, board, and volunteers of SFS, we unequivocally condemn the disgusting Islamphobic attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego and grieve the loss of three beloved members of our community: Amin Abdullah, Mansour Kaziha, and Nader Awad. Our masjids are sacred places for worship, gathering, and learning, and they must be protected as such. An attack on one of our community's spaces is an attack on the entire community.
When bigotry goes unchallenged, it creates an environment where violence against all communities more likely. This is unfortunately not an isolated tragedy. It is the consequence of a culture that has tolerated, and at times amplified, anti-Muslim sentiment. Words have consequences. Hate, when legitimized, leads to harm.
The Islamic Center of San Diego is a pillar institution, a place where families pray, where children go to school, where life's milestones are celebrated, and where our community gathers to organize and support one another. It is a place of belonging, and today it is a place of mourning.
Our hearts are with everyone directly impacted: Imam Taha Hassane and his family, the children and parents who lived through this violence, and the broader community carrying profound grief and fear.
We extend our deepest condolences to the three men who gave their lives protecting this sacred space. To God we belong, and to Him we shall return. We mourn them and honor them as pillars of our community. Please keep these families and our community in your thoughts and prayers.
3 tangible ways you can offer support:
1) Donate to support the family of Amin Abdullah, the mosque's security guard who gave his life protecting the community: https://www.launchgood.com/v4/campaign/support_family_of_amin_abdullah_islamic_society_of_san_diego_martyr?src=internal_search_discover_AMin%20Abdullah
2) Join our community asset mapping effort to identify and map the resources our community can rely on right now. Our goal is to put a clear, usable map of support into the hands of affected families, the Islamic Center, and our partner organizations. If you have resources, services, or expertise to contribute, we want to hear from you here: https://bit.ly/comm-asset-mapping
3) Access mental health support through our Ihsan Center. SFS's Ihsan Center is available to provide mental health services to community members affected by this tragedy. To make a referral or connect someone to care, reach us at [email protected] or visit: https://bit.ly/SFSHealthandWellness
