NeighborhoodHouse Association's most meaningful work happens in the smallest moments, quiet encouragement, patient guidance, and joyful connection.
For Teacher Appreciation Month, we celebrate incredible educators Rebecca Salcido and Graciela Almader, who embody this every single day.
Their classrooms are filled not just with learning, but with love, laughter, and belonging.
Because of them, children feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow.
Thank you NHA teachers! Because of showing up with heart and purpose, you are changing lives in ways that truly matter.
Meet Desiree and Jesse - two core pillars of the NHA Social Services team!
Their focus isn't just on clinical goals; it's on helping individuals navigate mental health challenges, develop crucial life skills, and foster meaningful directions. As we listen, it's evident that their work goes beyond a job title - they see the worth in every single person that walks through the door, caring fiercely, and striving to help their clients heal, grow, and thrive.
We extend our greatest thanks to everyone on our Social Services team for their continuous commitment to transforming lives.

Ethical leadership sounds simple — until it isn't.
In this episode of Leadership Matters with the People's Doctors, Dr. Undraye Howard, Dr. Loretta Howard, and Dr. Sheryl White are joined by special guest Romero Davis for a conversation that goes beyond the talking points and into the moments that reveal who a leader truly is.
Together, they pull back the curtain on what it actually costs to lead with integrity in a world that doesn't always reward it — from the ethics of power and the danger of silence, to the gap between an organization's stated values and its lived reality.

Our second Males Read event of the year was a huge success!
Special thanks to Charles Wilson for organizing community leaders and mentors who came together to inspire a love of reading and support early literacy.
Seeing men show up and read aloud reminded us how impactful representation truly is.
The smiles, hugs, and laughter said it all!
Celebrating the Heart of Head Start! Our Incredible Teachers!
This Teacher Appreciation Month, we’re shining a light on the compassion, patience, and dedication that lives inside our classrooms every single day at Mercado NHA Head Start.
One story that truly captures the power of our educators is Teacher Daisy Valle
Alongside a team of committed teachers, Daisy helped support a young child with autism on a journey many thought would take much longer, learning to speak.
Through consistency, encouragement, and genuine care, our teachers created a safe space where this child could grow, express, and find their voice. And step by step… word by word… that voice came to life.
Moments like these remind us: teaching isn’t just a job, it’s life-changing work.
Parents notice it too. Stephanie Gomez, like so many grateful families, took time to show appreciation by bringing thoughtful gifts to our classrooms , a simple but powerful “thank you” for the endless effort our teachers pour into every child.
Because behind every milestone is a teacher who believed first.
Behind every breakthrough is a team that never gave up.
To Teacher Daisy Valle and all our Mercado and NHA Head Start educators, thank you for your patience, your passion, and your belief in every child’s potential.
You are shaping futures.
You are changing lives.

At Neighborhood House Association, we’re not just talking about Mental Health Awareness, we’re putting it into motion with the one and only Big Mike Cothrine leading the charge.
Big Mike is challenging our team to level up, not just physically, but mentally.
Through intentional movement, discipline, and mindset shifts, he’s reminding us that showing up for your body is one of the most powerful ways to show up for your mind.
Because let’s be real…
You can’t pour into your community if your own tank is empty.
Our team is embracing the idea that strength isn’t just about muscles, it’s about resilience, clarity, and self-care.
There is a connection.
When we move better, we feel better.
When we feel better, we serve better.
And that’s what it’s all about.
Shoutout to Big Mike for pushing us to be our best selves, inside and out.
