Thank you to everyone who helped us to celebrate our freedom to read during Banned Books Week! Several of you correctly identified our Book In A Bottle as F. Scott Fitzgerald’s THE GREAT GATSBY, and some of you joined us in cross-stitching special designs for readers.

We also asked for banned/challenged books that folks have enjoyed, and here are some of the titles that were shared:

The Cover to Cover Club is back at San Diego Public Library! 🍔💛❤️

Now through Nov. 14, children 4 to 12 years old may sign up online or in-person and start earning their way to free hamburgers, cheeseburger and grilled cheese sandwiches. All it takes is reading 5 books or reading up to 300 minutes.

🤫 Plus, participants can earn up to 3 total burgers by repeating the challenge.

To help you beat the heat, most San Diego Public Libraries (including the PB Library!) are staying open until 8pm tonight. On Sunday 10/4, the nearest libraries to us that will be open from 12-8pm will be the Point Loma/Hervey Library & the Serra Mesa-Kearny Mesa Library

Due to an extended heat wave, many San Diego Public Library locations and City of San Diego rec centers will be open until 8 p.m. this weekend.

· Sunday, Oct. 4 (9 locations)

Some libraries will also have Sunday hours.
