Many guests attended the ceremony to include Rear Admiral Christopher Sweeney, Carrier Strike Group 11. As a special surprise, a few of our Sailors were promoted by CAPT Thompson through the Meritorious Advancement Program.

We had the honor of having Mr. Robert Swafford, Plankowner and the the Director of Membership of the Bunker Hill Association, come onboard to visit and share his experiences with us.

Mr. Swafford joined the Navy in 1983, going through Boot Camp and soon attending the Hull Technician “A” School at Treasure Island.

His first ship was the USS Hunley (AS-31) out Holy Loch, Scotland.

He later then was assigned to the PCU Bunker Hill as an HTFN but immediately frocked/advanced to HT3. After departing the ship, he joined the Reserves and separated after 37 years, leaving as an HT1.

Up until his retirement, he served at various Commands, ranging from Special Warfare, EOD units and even being an R-1 DIVO in San Francisco.

Thank you for keeping the Bunker Hill spirit alive and thank you for your service Sir!
