In celebration of Nowruz, or Persian New Year, the Persian Cultural Center has shared cultural objects and handicrafts from Iran located in the library's display case in the lobby.

Nowruz is the Persian New Year, celebrated on March 20th or 21st, marking the beginning of spring and the new year in many cultures. It's a time for renewal, family gatherings, and traditional foods.

Presenting the La Jolla/Riford Library's Spring Art Exhibition: Chirp!! A vibrant collection of 46 watercolor paintings by artists from the San Diego Watercolor Society

Celebrating the beauty and wonder of avian life, this exhibition invites visitors to enjoy expressive interpretations of birds in their natural habitats, rendered in luminous color and detail.

The community is warmly invited to a reception to meet the artists on Saturday, April 18th from 3-5pm.

The exhibition will remain on view through May 15, 2026 during regular library hours.

Who's ready for another Sidewalk Book Sale???

Friends of the La Jolla Library will hold a Sidewalk Book Sale on Saturday, January 17th from 10am-1pm on the front steps of the library at 7555 Draper Avenue.

All used books at the sidewalk sale are $1 or less and all proceeds benefit the library.

For greater selection of used books please visit the Friends’ book store inside the library during the regular opening hours.
