Friends of San Diego's Carmel Valley Branch Library

There will be a general membership meeting of the Friends of Carmel Valley Library this Tuesday, July 20th at 2:00pm in the library's community room. Updated bylaws will be presented and a vote taken for approval.

The Carmel Valley Library Friends bookstore is OPEN for business! Come in during library hours to browse & purchase used books to support your branch library. Except for one bookcase of rare books, all hard cover & all paperbacks are $1 each!

Carmel Valley Friends will be having our annual general meeting of our members (via Zoom) on Wednesday, Oct. 7th at 5:00pm. We will accept nominations to the Board and will conduct elections. If you are interested in joining the meeting, reply to this message and a Zoom meeting link will be sent to you.

You can now return library materials through the book drops at any of the 36 San Diego Public Library locations. Book drops will be open Mondays at 9 a.m. and will remain open 24 hours a day until Fridays at 5:30 p.m. At this time, book drops are not open on weekends. Unfortunately we cannot yet accept donations.

We’ve been asked to bring a Summer Reading Program (SRP) community fundraising challenge to your attention. The San Diego Public Library Foundation is partnering with Intuit which will make a donation of $10,000 to support our libraries if certain SRP goals (200,000 hours or 200,000 books) are met. We’re already one month into the SRP and sign-ups are currently behind schedule compared to previous years. The SRP is open to people of all ages— adults as well as kids. Friday January 17th, 3-6 (for Friends members only)
Saturday the 18th, 8am-3pm
Sunday, the 19th, 12-4pm
