📈 20 years of growth, learning, and advancing evidence-based practice in child welfare.

When the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC) launched in 2006, the Program Registry included just 17 programs. Today, the CEBC features 600 programs supporting children, youth, and families across a wide range of topic areas and service needs.

As research evolves and the needs of the field continue to grow, the CEBC remains committed to helping agencies, organizations, and professionals identify and implement research-supported practices that promote child and family well-being.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the CEBC’s journey over the past 20 years. 💙

CEBC 20th Anniversary: Laine Alexandra 06/03/2026

This June, the CEBC is proud to celebrate 20 years of advancing evidence-based practices for children and families involved with the child welfare system. 🎉

To kick off our anniversary month, we’re honored to share reflections from Laine Alexandra, LCSW, the CEBC’s first project manager, who helped shape the foundation of the CEBC in its earliest days.

In this special video, Laine reflects on the vision, collaboration, and dedication that helped transform the CEBC from a proposal on paper into a nationally and internationally recognized resource for the field.

“It truly has been one of the highlights of my career.”

Thank you to Laine and to the many professionals, partners, researchers, and contributors who have helped advance the CEBC over the past 20 years. Your expertise and commitment continue to support evidence-based decision-making and improve outcomes for children and families.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up connected to family, community, and support systems that help them thrive. 💙

More than 329,000 children and youth were in foster care across the U.S. in 2024 — a reminder of the ongoing importance of reunification and permanency-focused support for families involved with child welfare.

Evidence-based programs can play a critical role in helping strengthen family connections, support reunification efforts, and promote safe, stable, and lasting permanency outcomes.

The CEBC offers several topic areas featuring programs and resources designed to support children, youth, and families throughout the permanency journey.

🔹 Sexual & Reproductive Health Programs for Adolescents & Young Adults
🔹 Pregnant & Parenting Teen Services

These topic areas highlight programs and resources designed to support healthy development, informed decision-making, positive youth engagement, and improved outcomes for adolescents and young adults.
