Can a story spark a big idea? We think so!

Join local author, teacher, and philosopher Maria Tillmanns for a fun, thought-provoking afternoon where stories come to life and curiosity takes center stage!

After enjoying a story by beloved children's author Arnold Lobel, kids and adults alike will explore some of life's big questions about friendship, fairness, and everyday life through lively discussion and creative thinking.

Maria teaches philosophy with children through a program developed in collaboration with UC San Diego, encouraging young minds to ask questions, share ideas, and discover new perspectives.

🐾 We had a PAW-some time last weekend serving up pup cups to some adorable four-legged friends—and their humans—at our Tail End of Summer Pup Cup Pop-Up! 🐶🍦

But the tail-wagging fun doesn’t stop there! 🎃👻

Set sail for an entertaining afternoon of pirate jokes, riddles, wordplay, and fascinating nautical language as Richard explores the surprising origins of familiar words and phrases from life at sea.

Due to the extreme heat the Community Room at North University Community Library will be staying open until 8:00PM tonight, Wednesday, September 9 to provide reprieve from this crazy heat! Please be advised that access to the main library space will be unavailable for hold pickups and material checkouts.

Stay safe in this heat! An extreme heat warning has been issued for today through 8 p.m.

Designated libraries, recreation centers and other public buildings will be available if you need a place to cool down. Visit sandiego.gov/PlacesToCoolDown for a full list.
