NASCAR Cup Series driver Shane van Gisbergen took time to meet with sailors at Naval Base Coronado, signing autographs, taking photos, and sharing racing insights ahead of NASCAR's historic race weekend on the base. Van Gisbergen was joined by Naval Base Coronado Commanding Officer Capt. Loren 'Wookie' Jacobi, and sailors highlighting the partnership between NASCAR and the U.S. Navy as they celebrate service, teamwork, and community.

Produced through a collaborative effort between the U.S. Navy, NASCAR, and Concept 80, the film was shot aboard Naval Air Station North Island, NOLF Imperial Beach, and Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.

There will also be an exclusive screening at the NASNI Lowry Theater on Tuesday, June 9 at 1700. RSVP is required by Friday, June 5 at 1700. Base access is required.

San Diego County has issued a water quality advisory for all Coronado beaches, including Gator Beach (NAB) and Front Beach (NASNI), because "bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area."

While advisories are issued periodically, the level of contamination measured recently has been exceptionally high.

Before visiting the beach, check current water quality conditions and avoid contact with ocean water and wet sand in posted advisory areas.
