North Park Lions Club

The North Park Lions will turn 100 this May! Come join us for a big party with food, drinks, and music benefiting the Scouts Troop 53 and Jefferson Elementary.

We donated 200+ avocados to the San Diego food bank and the Chicano Federation of San Diego County senior housing communities. This is more than just a one time drop off. The North Park Lions have visited the residents at various communities in San Diego and delivered fresh, high quality foods to people who may not get the best foods every day. 🥑🥑

The North Park Lions Club is proud to support our local schools! 🏫 📚

We donated a total of 500 gift cards to Central Elementary School, Jefferson Elementary School, Garfield Elementary School, and Balboa Elementary School.

Supporting our students, teachers, and families is at the heart of what we do. Together, we are making a difference in our community!

This week, the North Park Lions Club made a donation of $1,000 USD to support our fellow Lion José Juan Melendres García, member of the Tijuana Sin Fronteras Lions Club and firefighter of over 25 years, who urgently needs heart surgery in less than 7 days.

José Juan has risked his life countless times to protect others. Now, he needs us.

We are proud to stand in solidarity with our friends across the border.

Last night was a memorable evening at the closing ceremony for the 2024–2025 term of the Playas de Tijuana Lions Club.

The North Park Lions Club was honored with a special recognition for their outstanding support and commitment to humanitarian service. 🌎🦁

North Park Lions,

On May 15, 2025, Dennis, Coughlin, MD, affectionately known as "Dr. Denny", passed away at Sharp Memorial Hospital, at 83 years old. His brother flew in from New York and was at his side.

Dr. Denny was born November 4, 1941, and joined the Lions Club in 1975. He was a member that could be counted on to participate in activities, and was a regular presence at our events. He has ventured to Mexico on our binational events with our twin club in Tijuana.

His ashes will be returned to New York to be buried alongside his family.

The North Park Lions will be hosting a small celebration of life event for him in the near future.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear friend and fellow Lion, Jim Knott Sr., who left us last night with his family lovingly by his side.

He was not only a committed Lion, but a cherished friend to many.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. 🦁🤍
