HISTORY: The Multi-Cultural Community Relations Office, formerly the Indochinese Storefront, was established by the San Diego Police Department in 1987 to address the specific needs of our growing refugee population in San Diego. In celebration of Filipino American History Month (FAHM), we were honored to be invited to present at the Sweetwater Union High School District 2024 Magkaisa (Let’s Unite) High School Conference. We represented the San Diego Police Department in front of a full house (standing room only), classroom of students interested in a career in law enforcement. We had great questions and conversations from the group about our Cadet Program, Salary, Hiring Expectations and having a career that would make our “Parents Proud” regardless of our ethnic backgrounds.
