The San Diego City College Photography Department invites you to an opening reception for our new exhibit entitled "Excavation: A Journey Through Loss." See images, installations, and the photo book of the same name by our very own adjunct photography instructor, Jason Reimer, which has recently been published by Daylight Books.
The exhibit runs from January 30 through February 10, and the opening reception will be on Saturday, February 4 from 5-7 p.m. in the Luxe Gallery on the 5th floor of the Career Technology Center. Ample street parking is available, as well as parking lot 5, which is located at the northeast corner of 16th and C Street, just across the street from the Career Technology Center where the exhibit takes place.
For more information, call the photography department at (619) 388-3281.
Here's a little teaser from the publisher's press release:
Made in response to the death of the artist’s sister shortly before the birth of his first child, Jason Reimer’s work ponders the meaning of life, death, suffering, and human nature. It does so in the form of a fragmented, apocalyptic narrative embodied within a book that utilizes multiple textures, substrates, and complex image sequencing.

Hello photo friends! The fall semester is one week away, and we still have several classes with seats available. Some classes are fully online, some are hybrid, and some are in-person, so there are options for every person's schedule or preference.
If you've been wanting to return in in-person learning, there are many classes available on campus. Last week we finished a really fun 8-week section of Introduction to Black and White Photography, and those students really enjoyed the hands on, personal feel of the class. If that's the kind of class you've been looking for, we've got you covered.
Check out classes like Introduction to Black and White Photography (film & darkroom-based), Introduction to Photography, Introduction to Digital Photography, Intermediate Black and White Photography, Directed Darkroom Studies (if all you want is some extra time in the darkroom), and even Photography Tutoring.

With great sadness, we learned that Prof. David King lost his battle with cancer today. I’m sure he’ll be out roaming the Heavens somewhere above Colorado with several cameras. “I’m just an old cowboy”, he’d say. Feel free to leave a note to him here, a favorite memory in one of his classes or one of his field trips. He will be missed by so many. R.I.P. David. May all the zones be right where you want them in that big darkroom in the sky. 😞 Photo by N. David King
