After experiencing stress or trauma, changes in mood, sleep or behavior can feel confusing.
These reactions are often tied to the brainβs effort to stay alert and protect against future harm. Understanding this helps
reduce stigma and encourages early support.
MCCS Counseling services, Military OneSource, and the Veterans Crisis Line are available to support Marines and families.
Mental readiness is part of mission readiness. Learn more:
Know the Signs of Post-traumatic Stress Post-traumatic stress or PTS is a normal, often temporary reaction to trauma, characterized by heightened stress and anxiety that typically subsides over time. Recognizing the signs of post-traumatic stress is the first step and a sign of strength.

*Please read the Eventbrite post for all event details*
Join MCFTB and other spouses for a fun group hike at Cabrillo National Monument. Please note entry into Cabrillo National Monument is not free, but it is with the military national park pass.
We will be meeting at the lower side of the park, at the start of the Coastal and Oceanside Trails. This hike is uphill and on a dirt path, then downhill coming back. Wear comfy/workout clothes, a hat, and sunscreen, and be sure to bring water.
Children are welcome to attend, but please note the trails are not stroller friendly.
This is a great way to get out of the house and do something for you, while your children get to do something fun too.

In 2024, 95% of TAP warm handovers were given to enlisted service members; 92% of warm handovers were given to Service members with less than ten years of service.
One study, βWhat do successful military-to civilian transitions look like? A revised framework and a new conceptual model for assessing Veteran wellbeing,β published in Armed Forces and Society found paygrade, race, s*x, and paygrade had the strongest association with how likely a service member is to experience difficulty during the military to civilian transition.
Warm handovers can be helpful by connecting service members with the additional assistance they need to bridge resource gaps, build continuity of care, and set them on a clear path toward post-military success.
For more information about Transition contact our Transition Readiness Program at 619-524-1283/0035 located here at MCRD San Diego!
