OB has come together over the past weeks, as we always do, to care for one another by activating community resources for basic needs, gathering in creative virtual ways to continue community conversations, and safely supporting small businesses.
This community, and the rest of the world, will continue to experience the impact of the pandemic in the months and years to come. In light of this reality, the Ocean Beach Town Council is gearing up to work hard for OB over the next year. We created a COVID-19 Response Committee which will continue to assess the unique needs of this community, and respond as we’re able with the resources this community affords us.
The all-volunteer board of directors of the OBTC, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, produce the Pier Pancake Breakfast, Restaurant Walk, Holiday Parade, Holiday Tree, and Holiday Food & Toy Drive among other initiatives. We also give thousands of dollars away in grants to local efforts and organizations who are working to better OB. All of this is made possible through the financial support and volunteer efforts of OBceans.
When we dream of the ‘new normal’ in Ocean Beach, we imagine thriving livelihoods for families, community members, and businesses. While none of us are sure exactly what the future holds, we do know that we’ll need the continued support of the community.
GET INVOLVED
The financial, social, and emotional impacts of this crisis affect each of us differently. For many, precious resources like money, time, and capacity are in short supply, and we’re sensitive to this reality. If and when you’re able, the Ocean Beach Town Council invites you to get involved. Find out more here: https://obtowncouncil.org/ob-thrive/
