The U.S. Navy Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Santa Fe (SSN 763) emerges through the ice after performing a vertical surfacing in the Arctic Circle during Operation Ice Camp 2026.
❄️ Operation Ice Camp, a biennial operation that partners with the Arctic Submarine Laboratory, brings together Allies and partners to test, research, and operate in the Arctic region.

The U.S. Navy Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Santa Fe (SSN 763), assigned to Submarine Squadron 11, arrived at Operation ICE CAMP Boarfish 2026 in the Beaufort Sea.
"The Arctic is a critical region for national security and global stability. Our commitment to a sustained presence and operational readiness here is unwavering," said Vice Adm. Richard Seif, Commander, Submarine Forces. "ICE CAMP Boarfish allows us to test and refine our capabilities, deepen our interoperability with key allies, and ensure our Submarine Force can project power and defend our nation’s interests in any environment, at any time. Navy Kicks Off Operation Ice Camp 2026 in the Arctic Ocean Commander, Submarine Forces officially kicked off Operation Ice Camp (ICE CAMP) Boarfish in the Arctic Ocean on March 7, 2026, after the building of the camp and the arrival of two U.S. Navy fast attack submarines, USS Delaware (SSN 791) and USS Santa Fe (SSN 763).

“This crew has done everything a submarine crew could be asked to do, not just completing the tasks, but excelling far beyond anything expected of them,” said Tella. “I will miss the Sailors and officers who make Greeneville what it is. It’s a hard job being assigned to a submarine, but these Sailors and officers show up every day and do an amazing job."

Ms. Anne Marie Schumann, Department of Navy Principal Cyber Advisor, toured Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Greeneville (SSN 772) during a visit to San Diego, Feb. 12, 2026.
⚡️In her role, Ms. Schumann is responsible for advising The Secretary of the Navy, The Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, and the Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps on all cyber matters and implementing the U.S. Department of War Cyber Strategy within the Department of the Navy.

Undersea Rescue 🤝 Undersea Dominance
Adm. Bill Houston, director, Naval Reactors, toured the offshore supply ship HOS Ma**er during a visit to Undersea Rescue Command (URC), Feb. 5, 2026.
URC, homeported at Naval Base Coronado, is the U.S. Navy's only submarine rescue-capable command ready to deploy around the world in the event of a submarine emergency.

ICYMI, U.S. Navy Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Greeneville (SSN 772) returned to Naval Base Point Loma following a deployment to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility, Jan. 30, 2026.
While on deployment, Greeneville steamed over 4️⃣9️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ nautical miles while conducting the full spectrum of SSN operations alongside U.S. and Allied forces! 💪
