This weekend is the MWR Holiday Festival -- 6 December from 0900 until 1300 at Admiral Prout Field. On Saturday, Gate 32 will be open for inbound and outbound 0700 until 1500, bolstering 3 inbound lanes 0830-1130 in support of this great event!! This is a very popular event, and there will be road closures around the event area. Expect a short walk from your car to the event.

2. PPM: For all our Do-It-Yourselfers! This class outlines the DITY process and what is required to complete a personally procured move.

3. Retiree/Separatee: All too often, we forget that every EAS also includes a PCS. Set yourself up for a successful transition by knowing your entitlements ahead of time.

Thanksgiving Holiday Hours

As you are aware, the lapse in federal funding has resulted in impacts across several family support programs. Below is consolidated guidance and resources, and Fleet and Family Support Centers remain open during our normal business hours of 0730 to 1630.

Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)
All EFMP operations – including enrollment, updates, disenrollment, assignment reviews, respite care, and priority housing reviews – are temporarily suspended during the shutdown.
Families may continue submitting enrollment or update packages, but processing will not resume until funding is restored.
Families should continue to work with their EFMP Case Liaisons and FFSC staff for general support.


Financial Resources
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS)
Now: Families should consider deferring non-essential purchases and contact their banks about paycheck protection.
If deployed: Service members can complete an NMCRS Pre-Authorization form so spouses can access support if needed.
If pay is delayed (beyond Oct. 15): NMCRS will provide basic needs financial assistance (not full paycheck replacement). Families will need ID and an LES or pay statement.
USAA
Zero-interest loans up to $6,000 for one missed paycheck.
Must have direct deposit with USAA and meet eligibility requirements.
Apply via USAA.com or the USAA app; funds released within two business days.
Additional relief options for banking and insurance products are also available.

Other Financial Institutions
Navy Federal, PenFed, Marine Federal CU and others offer paycheck protection programs with no fees and 0% interest.

Food Resources
STEP (Support the Enlisted Project): Fully operational.
San Diego Military Outreach Ministries (SD MOM): Food services available.
Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA): Twice monthly food assistance.
WIC: Remains open through October 2025.
Jewish Family Services: Hand Up Pantry & Diaper Bank open.
Courage to Call: 2nd/4th Saturdays, available to all active duty & veterans.

Plan ahead now for possible paycheck delays.
Know where to go: Ombudsmen and FFSC staff can connect families with food, financial, and housing resources.
Resources will not replace a paycheck but are designed to help with essential living expenses.
