Looking for somewhere to stroll, wander, browse, or just let off steam? Hillcrest is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in San Diego. 👣 It’s filled with restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, and plenty to see.
We suggest walking in when you can or taking a stroll after you park for free at the DMV. Visit AccessHillcrest.com to find out free parking hours at the DMV on Cleveland and Normal Street.

Our local Farmers Market is hopping every Sunday, featuring 175+ vendors offering locally grown produce, gifts, arts, crafts, flowers, clothing, and much more. There’s music too. 🪕

It’s in Hillcrest on Saturday from 1 - 2:30 PM at Pride Plaza on Normal Street (and every third Saturday).
This free event features more than 20 classic cars and draws hundreds of enthusiasts. Even better? Parking is *free* at the DMV from 7 AM - 3 AM.

Take it from Gerrie 👏 If you’re heading out for dinner or drinks in Hillcrest, look out for commercial zones, where you can park for free after 6 PM.
Fun fact: Hillcrest boasts more than 200 restaurants with a huge variety of diverse cuisines–all the more reason to visit!

Access Hillcrest is an information outlet, presented by the Uptown Community Parking District, designed to inform the public of the availability and accessibility of parking and other modes of transportation in Hillcrest.
Hillcrest Transportation Options Include:
The Lunch Loop is a free service provided by Rec Rentals and paid for by the Uptown Community Parking District. The Lunch Loop operates Monday-Friday 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on a specific route in Hillcrest, connecting major employment hubs and residents with the Hillcrest business core.
$7 Valet parking in Hillcrest is another community service subsidized by The Uptown Community Parking District, and is operated by Blue Water Valet services of San Diego. Giving visitors another choice to Access Hillcrest easily on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons with 2 convenient locations at 3900 Fifth Ave & 1200 University Ave. Hours vary by location.
