WE HAVE WORK TO DO – BUT FIRST, LET'S CELEBRATE A WIN. 🎉
Because of YOU – the union and community members who walked, called, and voted – a super-super majority of our pro-union endorsed candidates made it through the June 2nd Primary!
Marni von Wilpert for Congress is moving on to the general for Congressional District 48. This is HUGE. All the work we did to pass Prop 50 – to stop Trump and Republicans from stealing Congress so we have some accountability and representatives who will fight for the working class against this Admin's oppression and exploitation. Now we have to finish the job.
Nicole Crosby NicoleCrosby4SD is moving on for San Diego City Council District 2. A huge step toward defeating Richard Bailey and keeping a working class champion in the race.
Oscar Ortiz Oscar Ortiz for Assembly 2026 for Assembly District 36 is still in the mix for 2nd place. We're watching closely and ready to mobilize.
On Measure A: It didn't pass. Disinformation and confusing messaging from the other side made this uphill fight even steeper. But let's be clear – we will never stop pushing to tax the rich, house working class San Diegans, and fund the parks, libraries, and infrastructure our communities deserve.
This is a marathon, not a sprint. Congratulations to everyone who made this happen. Now let's get ready for November.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026 the SDICLC Delegates passed the following resolution:
Fund People, Not Bombs--Stop Military Operations in Iran and Weapons Transfers to Israel
WHEREAS, on February 28, 2026, the President of the United States initiated major military operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran without a Congressional Declaration of War (per Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of the U.S. Constitution), without an Authorization for Use of Military Force (per the 1973 War Powers Act), without provocation or necessity of self-defense (per Article 51 of the UN Charter), and without authorization by the UN Security Council (per Article 42 of the UN Charter); and
WHEREAS, an estimated 24,000 children have been killed, many millions displaced, and millions more have suffered profound and enduring disruption to their well-being and education in conflicts across the Middle East over the last three years; and
WHEREAS, as the U.S. enables Israel’s bombing campaign in Lebanon and continued attacks on Gaza, teachers, healthcare workers, and tradespeople—those who make society function—have been killed in their homes, bombed in their workplaces, and denied the ability to live or rebuild; and
WHEREAS, SDICLC Delegates resolved last summer to condemn U.S. support of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and demand an end to U.S. weapons transfers to Israel; and
WHEREAS, according to the Harvard Kennedy School, the ultimate costs of the Iran conflict are likely to exceed one trillion dollars; the Trump Administration has requested $200 billion in supplemental war funding from Congress; and the proposed 2027 defense budget stands at $1.5 trillion; and
WHEREAS, these military expenditures divert national resources from urgent domestic needs — including a $38 billion annual shortfall in federal funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, proposed cuts of approximately $1 trillion to Medicaid, crumbling infrastructure, and a housing and food insecurity crisis affecting hundreds of thousands of Americans; and

Over $1 TRILLION in healthcare cuts. 51,000 preventable deaths every year. 15 million people losing coverage.
This is not a statistic. This is a CRISIS.
Join us for a rally as part of Seven Days in June – a national movement demanding healthcare be a national priority. We honor those lost to these cruel cuts and fight for a future where healthcare is a human right, not a privilege.

Vote YES on Measure A!
Thousands of corporate and investor-owned houses sit vacant in our city. Voting Yes on Measure A would allow empty homes to be put back on the market, increasing supply and lowering costs for housing. The measure would also collect revenue for essential city services like public safety and infrastructure improvements.

NEXT THURSDAY: ICE Out of San Diego – Islamophobia Out of SD ✊🏾✊🏿✊🏼✊🏽✊🏻
This week, three community members were killed at the Islamic Center of San Diego. An elementary school on site. Children witnessed violence in a place that should hold only peace.
We cannot stay silent.
Join us for ICE Out of San Diego with theme: Islamophobia Out of SD.
We'll hear from the Muslim community on the rising hate, racism, white supremacy that led to this shooting. From Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera . From Pedro Rios of AFSC .sandiego, marking the anniversary of the Border Patrol killing of Anastasio Hernández-Rojas (2010).
Then we pivot to action. Because racist systems don't fall on their own. We need to build working class power. That means building unions, voting for Measure A (tax the rich, create homes), and supporting the Billionaire's Tax Prop this November.
The Primary Election is Tuesday, June 2. Your vote is part of your power.
📅 Thursday, May 28
