***Law Enforcement Dispatcher experience preferred***

The San Diego Unified School District is seeking Police Dispatchers to receive emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch to appropriate peace officer or district personnel. This position monitors a variety of safety and security equipment, maintains a variety of logs and records using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.

The school police communications center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Shifts are typically three 12-hour days per week, with an additional 8-hour day every other week, and 3 to 4 days off per week. *Graveyard schedules (10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) are currently under a pilot program. At this moment no graveyards and Sunday schedules are assigned to staff. Shifts are subject to change. Additionally, this position will be required to work evening, nights, holidays, and weekends. An approximate 5% shift differential may apply.

Police Dispatchers may qualify for the following pay differentials.

Bilingual Differential: 5%
Eligible candidates will participate in a performance exam to test for bilingual fluency.

Post Dispatch Training Differential:
Police Dispatchers that hold a POST Dispatcher Certification are eligible for a differential. New employees must pass a POST Certified Dispatcher Basic Academy within one year of employment.
Basic POST Dispatcher Certificate: 3.5%
Intermediate POST Dispatcher Certificate: 4.5%
Advanced POST Dispatcher Certificate: 6%

Other differentials:
Certified Training Officer differential: 5%
Night differential: 5%

Although we were unable to celebrate together the association continued on with the nominations for Dispatcher of the Year, Incident of the Year, Communications Center of the Year and the Supervisor Leadership award for San Diego Region.
