Visitors to Portrait of Pomeroy can't stop commenting on the life-size photographs by local Stacy Keck Photography. With Stacy's help, curator Dave Hampton found a way to invite us into Walter Pomeroy's house, to share how how this remarkable collector joyously displays and lives with his art. Don't miss this show, open through May 15th. The gallery is open late today, from 2-7 pm.

Join us at the SDPL Pacific Beach Branch Library this Saturday from 3 - 6 pm for an artist's reception for Kaori Fukuyama's "Passage to Light." Featuring abstract oil paintings that celebrate color and light, "Passage to Light" offers a visual experience that is strongly rooted in the Southern California light and space art movement, embracing vibrant colors, creating a sense of light, space, volume, and playing with perception.

"This commitment to an exhibition program that produces shows such as 'Rainmaker,' in the context of a library system with a strong presence of paintings, sculptures and public art, is an inspiring -- and ongoing -- story."
We couldn't agree more, it's an exciting ongoing story! Thanks to Artbound and Robert Pincus for such a thoughtful piece on art at the library.

San Diego Public Library's Innovative Arts Program Visitors to the San Diego Public Library can experience more than books. A large-scale visual arts program brings guest curated art exhibitions to its central location and many branches.

Tomorrow is the last day to see "Light Beyond the Bulb" on display in the Dickinson Popular Library at Central. Light takes on many forms that are largely invisible and undetectable without modern technology. Light allows us to communicate, entertain, explore, and understand the world we inhabit and the Universe we live in. The San Diego Public Library hosted this exhibit of spectacular images to celebrate the International Year of Light, a year-long initiative in 2015 endorsed by the United Nations.

Did you know we have over 190 pieces of art from the Civic Art Collection installed throughout the Central Library? Today we reinstalled Ivan Messenger's painting “Belfries – Balboa Park” after a loan to the Marston House Museum for "Art of the Park: 100 years of Art in Balboa Park." You can see it and other remarkable California Plein Air paintings in our California Room on the 9th floor.
