I’m reading a book on Ketogenic food plans. The doctor writes “I have the risk factor gene for Alzheimer’s disease, which is the APOE4 gene. For me, staying on the ketogenic diet is a strong preventative measure. If I start eating a lot of sugars and carbohydrates, I could eventually develop Alzheimer’s based on my genetic makeup.“
Since I also have that gene, his information resonates for me. Anyone heard of this correlation between food choices and Alzheimer’s?

I had a great win a couple of days before the libraries closed for the Corona-virus. I had put "How Not to Diet" on hold and I've now had nearly six weeks to "consume" this book written by Dr. Michael Greger. He also wrote ""How Not to Die" and the Cookbook. So my commitment to be a plant based consumer grows every day with this wisdom.
Do you know about the Age Friendly San Diego events coming up this month and next. Let me know if you need help. I have a flyer on the event but don't know how to add a PDF to my page.
I hope everyone has considered plant medicine as they age gracefully. Let me know questions you have and I’ll connect you to helpful resources

Hello faithful readers of Senior Health Focus. Today I got news that a very close relative of mine that just turned 40 has surgery this week for removal of her Gallbladder. I am dumbfounded. How can this be happening? She doesn't feel there is any other option. Have any of my readers had a GallBladder removed and how has it impacted their eating and energy?
Avoiding meat, dairy, refined sugar, and processed foods and increasing vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, and plant milks will move patients away from a state of disease and toward a state of health, according to an article published in the Permanente Journal. More than 20 clinicians authored a report that reviewed lifestyle changes that could decrease premature disability and death. They caution that health care professionals should be informing their patients of the root causes of chronic diseases, and that many diseases are not inevitable with age
