Good afternoon KINGSVILLE (LCS-36) Family and Friends,
This is Command Master Chief Morin. I hope everyone is having a great start to their week. I wanted to put out a note on a few things happening around the command.
You might have noticed the operations tempo of your Sailor over the past few months has increased. We are in the middle of our Advanced Phase of training and integrating at-sea with other war ships. We most recently completed “Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training” or SWATT. KINGSVILLE did exceptionally well, and we are gearing up for more at-sea training.
Pre-Deployment Town Hall Meeting. On Wednesday, 29April we will have our Pre-Deployment Town Hall Meeting starting at 6pm at the Murphy Canyon Chapel (3200 Santo Road, San Diego, CA 92124). All family members are encouraged to attend. Items on the agenda include:
-TRIAD Remarks (CO, XO, CMC)
-OMBUDSMAN Introduction
-Family Readiness Group Start-Up
-Fleet and Family Support Center Representatives (topic: Deployment Readiness)
This is a great opportunity to get to know everyone, exchange phone numbers and conversate. Children are very welcome!
OMBUDSMAN. We are happy to introduce Ms. Shammy as our Command OMBUDSMAN! What is an OMBUDSMAN?
The Navy Ombudsman is a volunteer appointed by the Commanding Officer to serve as a vital communication link between command leadership and Navy families, providing information, referrals and support.
The Navy Family Ombudsman Program is designed to enhance mission readiness by ensuring families have the information and resources needed to navigate the challenges of military life. Ombudsmen act as the primary communication channel between the command and families, disseminating official information, updates and guidance through newsletters, care-lines, telephone trees and email. They also provide referrals to military and civilian support organizations, including Fleet and Family Support Centers, American Red Cross, Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society, Chaplains, medical facilities and legal assistance offices.
If you would like to be added to our Ombudsman email distro please Direct Message (DM) us on Facebook with the following:
First name, Last name, Sponsor’s name (Sailor onboard) and relationship to Sailor and email address. Example:
Joe Smith, Fireman Nathan Smith, father, [email protected]
We will verify your request / credentials, once verified we will add you to the email distro.
Thank you all for the continuous support as we continue our work-up cycle and prepare for deployment. MCPON Honea said it best. “While my wife didn’t come in my seabag, she has helped me carry it with strength and grace for many years”. Our family is our glue that holds us together!
I hope everyone has a great week. It is a true privilege to sail with these great Sailors! Hope to see you all at the Town Hall later this month.
Very Respectfully,
R. Morin
Command Master Chief
