Our Pre-Deployment Brief was a great opportunity to connect with our Little Beaver families, share information, answer questions, and strengthen the support network that keeps our Sailors mission ready.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and to the teams who helped make the event a success. From resources and information sharing to pizza and conversation, it was a reminder that deployment readiness is truly a team effort.

As we continue preparing for deployment, we remain grateful for the resilience, support, and dedication of our Sailors and families. The Little Beavers are stronger together.

✅ Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX)

The tasks that our team is responsible for are wide and varied - from defending USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT from surface and submarine threats, to tasking boarding operations of unknown vessels, all while directing our group of Arleigh Burke- class Destroyers through all of the missions they are assigned.

It’s a difficult task and your Sailors performed extremely well!

STG2(SW) Lemke, stationed on USS CARL M. LEVIN, was recently selected as the FY2025 Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWO-THREE Sailor of the Year!

Competing against a field of top-notch, high-performing Sailors from across the squadron, he rose to the top, setting the standard through sustained superior performance, technical excellence, and an unwavering commitment to mission readiness.

As a Sonar Technician, Lemke demonstrates true mastery of the undersea warfare domain, directly contributing to lethality and strengthening the squadron’s warfighting advantage. Beyond technical expertise, he leads by example, bringing initiative, accountability, and a relentless drive to elevate the entire team.

Congratulations to the Navy’s newest Senior Chief Petty Officer, FCCS Geisler!

CDS-23 staff, along with his friends & family, gathered to celebrate this significant and well-earned milestone. His promotion reflects years of sustained superior performance, unwavering dedication, and a deep commitment to both mission and Sailors.

DESRON 23 marked a significant day of transition and tradition as Captain Scott Wilbur relieved Captain Ryan Leary as Commodore during yesterday’s Change of Command ceremony.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Captain Leary for his dedicated leadership, steadfast commitment to our Sailors, and lasting impact on the squadron. As he begins his well-earned retirement, we wish him fair winds and following seas.

We proudly welcome Captain Wilbur and look forward to his leadership as DESRON 23 continues to strengthen warfighting readiness and take care of our people.

Massive congratulations to LCDR Grenier and CWO3 Noriega for conquering the 2026 Dodger Stadium Spartan Event!

From stadium stairs to brutal obstacles, they showed pure grit, relentless determination, and the kind of mental toughness that can’t be taught.

This is what Navy leadership looks like: stepping into the arena, embracing the suck, and finishing strong.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it — they represented our team, our standards, and that warrior spirit to the fullest.

Congratulations to the Navy’s newest Senior Chief Petty Officer STGCS Gerrity! CDS-23 staff, friends, and family had the pleasure of attending his promotion ceremony prior to his ring off from the command.

Senior Chief Gerrity routinely brought smiles to the faces of everyone he interacted with, and his knowledge and expertise will be dearly missed here at DESRON.
