San Diego, sunshine and surf- a tourist paradise ☀️🏖️🏄🏽… SD is also the home to powerful radical activism and resistance- a beacon of leadership in our time.

📚UNDER THE PERFECT SUN by Mike Davis, Kelly Mayhew, and Jim Miller exposes the dark underbelly of militarism, economic inequity and corruption in the country’s 8th largest metropolis. Touted as the “People’s history of San Diego” this chronicling of the city’s progressive activism features our very own Khalid Alexander and his mother, Black Panther Party activist.

All are welcome to join the 20th anniversary book launch and community discussion at USCD June 4.

We showed up and showed out! 🗳️⚡️
Ya’ll made Party 2 The Polls a massive success. We voted for seats that impact our daily lives– and we won’t stop there. We will continue to hold our elected officials accountable to our community’s needs. ✊🏾
Shoutout to City Council Member Sean Elo-Rivera for joining us at the park today

Welcome home Kurese!
Unjustly incarcerated as a minor for a trumped up charge, his mothers unwavering dedication and Senate Bill 545 helped win Kurese his freedom.
This is a small move in the right direction for justice reform.
✊🏾 We keep advocating for those impacted by the punishment system.

KURESE BELL IS FREE!
The punishment system tried to throw Kurese away at 17 years old. They sentenced him to 65-life for a murder he didn’t commit. The security guard killed his friend during an attempted robbery and he was charged with the murder. Kurese’s mom gave everything to see her son come home.
For two years she attended Participatory Defense weekly. She stayed determined. She strategized and worked hand in hand with one of the best attorneys in San Diego, Patrick Dudley. Kurese did his part and did the work to prepare to come home.
He is finally home.
